Only justice can guarantee nation’s stability: Imran

OKARA: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has said that wealth or military strength cannot guarantee stability of a nation but only justice. He said it was the very difference between a developed society of the West and the developing society of Pakistan where the privileged classes were over and above the law while the poor faced oppression.
Imran said it was a pity that the prime minister of Pakistan sought loans from the IMF like a beggar. The real democracy could not prevail in the presence all these evils, he said.
The PTI chief was addressing a public rally at the Football Ground held as a show of support to the PTI candidate Ashraf Sohna for the October 11 NA-144 by-polls. Imran said he would run the movement for the uplift and welfare of the poorest and voiceless classes of society.
He announced launching of the ‘Movement for Restoration and Provision of Justice (MRPJ)’ in the country, saying there were dual standards of justice and education, as the deprived common people were facing discrimination.
Criticising the Metro Bus and Danish School projects, Imran said the Sharif brothers had repeatedly occupied the offices of the PM and Punjab chief minister but could not bring about a change. The Kisan Package was announced without consulting the farmers’ representatives, he said, adding the provincial governments of KP, Sindh and Balochistan did not have the required money to pay their share of subsidy granted in the package.
The PTI chief cited the difference in the input prices in India and Pakistan, while claiming that the Kisan Package was a result of the protest organised by the PTI in Hafizabad. He criticised the government for increasing the GST on the POL products prices as well.
Imran said he never thought in his life that he would have to declare Asif Ali Zardari better than Nawaz Sharif, because Zardari had left behind Rs480 billion as circular debt which had increased to Rs615 billion during the present government’s tenure. Loadshedding was still there despite doubling of the electricity tariff, he added.
Imran said in a country where a pregnant woman died after every 20 minutes and over 25 million children were not going to school, the Metro Bus was the government’s priority.
He claimed that Shahbaz Sharif had taken special interest in the Nandipur Power Project which was initiated at the cost of Rs22 billion but reached the Rs84 billion mark without generating electricity. He alleged that the residence of Hassan Nawaz Sharif in London was worth Rs7 billion.
He said the prime minister had caused a loss of Rs250 million to the nation by using a Boeing 777 for his UN trip.
Imran, in his address, pledged that he would not extend false packages to the farmers for gaining cheap popularity. He said he would bring down the rates of all the agriculture inputs through a five-year agriculture plan.
He claimed that the accountability system was very strong in KP and the services of 5,000 inefficient policemen had so far been terminated. He said the local government system in KP had been developed under the provincial finance award, with 30 percent budget allocated to the elected local government councils.
The PTI chief warned PTI MPA Masud Shafqat Rubera of serving him a show-cause notice, if he did not turn up to support Sohna in the NA-144 within 24 hours.
Earlier, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Samsam Ali Bokhari, Ashraf Sohna, Chaudhry Azhar Mehmood, Anwar Pasha and Qari Hafizullah Baloch addressed the public meeting. Former MNAs including Rao Qaisar Ali Khan, Rai Aslam Kharal, Syed Gulzar Sibtain and others were also present on the occasion.
During the rally, Chaudhry Saleem Sadiq — president of the Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran —announced to join the PTI along with his colleagues.
