EU team discusses elections with PML-Q leaders
LAHORE: A European Union (EU) delegation called on Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi at their residence on Sunday.
The PMQ leaders presented their proposals for holding of fair elections in future after rigging through returning officers (ROs) in the 2013 elections. Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Dr Khalid Ranjha, Moonis Elahi, Salik Hussain and Rizwan Mumtaz Ali were also present.
Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi said the 2013 election was an ROs election and it was also the stance of 22 political parties. Members of the delegation said that they were holding meetings with heads of political parties and wanted to know their views on the elections. The European Union delegation included Mr Nicolay Paus, Ms Ann Vanhout, Mr Jean Costedoat, Mr Hans Weber, Ms Hannah Theresa Roberts, Mr Colm Vincent Fahy, Mr Pawel Kryztof and Svante Torgny Yngrot.
