Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will operate feeder buses for Metro routes and to augment the overall traffic facilities in the capital. The civic body is in advanced stages of planning to run 22 buses covering major routes and areas of the capital to facilitate residents.
The process for selection of bus operators is likely to commence in December and it is expected that the feeder routes would be operational within four months. The initial estimate for operation and maintenance of the feeder buses is Rs200 to 250 million per annum. On designated routes, a bus will operate after every 30 minutes.
The process for hiring of the bus operators for operation and maintenance of the buses would be carried out in transparent manner at the earliest. It is expected that the buses would not only facilitate the commuters embarking the Metro Bus Service but also others.
The CDA has planned four routes for this purpose. The first route will commence from Bhara Kahu up to Marghazar Zoo covering Dhokri, Aabpara, Federal Government Polyclinic and F-6 Sector. The second route would be from Rawat to Faisal Mosque. The third route will commence from Tarnol up to Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park / Ibne Sina Road Metro station and would cover Sector G-13 and areas of G and F sectors, including Markaz G-9. The fourth route will operate up to IJ Principal Road Metro station commencing from Railway Carriage Factory.
