Chairman PTI Imran Khan will be using all his political acumen to reunite the party which is shattered by the internal differences at the party convention of the senior leadership invited from all over the country on Sunday and put it in order so as to regain its popularity graph which fell in aftermath of Judicial Commission’s report. Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed and Hamid Khan will also attend the meeting with whom the party chairman had a reconciliatory meeting on Friday.
After the party chairman’s speech a question answer session will also be held during which Khan can face few tough questions from those leaders/workers who opposed party’s ‘dharna’ policy which had turned into watershed for the party’s future. It will be a defining moment for the party ever since its inception and brunt of responding to tough questions from party works will define its future course.
Sources said that the party convention would be convened as general council before conclusion to give approval to the newly drafted party constitution which proposes deletion of the office of president. However some party leaders have opposed getting approval of the constitution drafted by an interim set up declared illegal by the Wajih commission.
Party’s information secretary Naeemul Haq told The News on Friday that three to four hundred senior most leaders of the party will converge at the meeting to be addressed by only Imran Khan followed by questions and answers. The television cameras will be allowed to have glimpses of the meeting before start of its formal proceedings after which the party media persons will release details intermittently.
Meanwhile, Akbar S Babar a founder ideological member of the PTI has welcomed the uncompromising stance taken by Justice Wajihuddin with regard to his election tribunal decisions and proposed that Imran Khan should sideline himself and Justice Wajih should be made chairman of a neutral interim set up till fresh intra party elections to make the process more transparent.
Talking to The News, Babar said by doing so Imran Khan’s stature as a statesman will
rise and he will easily be reelected as PTI was nothing without him.
