A delegation of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) visited PM&DC on Thursday.
FAIMER President Dr. John Norcini headed the delegation.
The members of the delegation included Prof. Dr. Ara Tekian (Professor of Medical Education at Isra University Pakistan, Professor of Medical Education, and Associate Dean of International Affairs, University of Illinois at Chicago, USA),Dr. John Norcini (President and Chief Executive Officer, Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), USA),Dr. Janet Grant(Professor Open University Institute of Educational Technology (IET), Senior Advisor, WFME, UK),Professor Deborah Murdoch-Eaton(Dean of Medical Education, The Medical School The University of Sheffield UK) ,Maj. Gen. (Retd) Dr. Nasim-ul-Majeed (Principal, Foundation University Medical College, Islambad) Vice Chancellor of University Health Sciences Lahore and coordinator of the meeting Prof. Dr. Umar Ali Khan Pro Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences), Isra University & Secretary General (AEME).
The PMDC president along with its Executive Committee members and PMDC registrar welcome the delegation.
A detailed presentation of PM&DC was given to them by Dr. Shaista Faisal, deputy registrar PM&DC, regarding the enhancement and improvements done in the registration and accreditation system.
The delegates said the PM&DC is following the guidelines and international standards provided by the FAIMER.
The delegates appreciated the efforts being done to improve the system and agreed that the standards of the PMDC are comparable with the international standards.
They suggested that the faculty of all the medical dental colleges should be strengthened and time to time enhancement courses should be offered to the faculty members to stay in touch with the latest innovations of their respective subjects.The delegation also appreciated the system introduced of Continuous Medical Education (CME), Continuous Dental Education (CDE).
