Rawalpindi

Tension remained high in and around Raja Bazaar when a large number of people belonging to different seminaries gathered in front of Darul Uloom Taleem-ul-Quran following a rumour and chanted slogans.

The local administration, as a precautionary measure, summoned the army to tackle any untoward situation, the district administration said. The military troops were deployed at Imambargahs, sources said. The situation remained under control and no untoward incident was reported till the filing of this report.

The administration denied imposing curfew once again in the city.Meanwhile, PML-N leaders Malik Ibrar and Malik Shakeel Awan visited Darul Uloom Talim-ul-Quran in the evening and negotiated with the protesters to resolve the issue, but protesting people belonging to Anjuman-e-Tajran, Rawalpindi, said that they would keep protesting till their demands were not met.
