Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that children literature festivals will be held in seven big cities of the province next year and Rs 10 million will be allocated during the next fiscal year for this purpose.
Addressing a Children Literature Festival held in collaboration with Education Department, Children Literature Festival, Idara Taleem-o-Aagahi, Umeed-e-Naujawan and Purazam Pakistan on Saturday, he said the government was utilising all resources for the provision of quality education as the future of Pakistan was linked with it.
Rana Mashhood further said Parho Punjab-Barho Punjab programme had been started for increasing the school enrollment and enhancing quality education under which Members National and Provincial Assemblies were adopting schools and the facilities in schools were improving. He said it was a target of the Punjab government that no child from the age of five to nine years should remain out of school up to 2018. He advised the students to pay full attention to their education and win laurels for the country and the nation.
The minister, while introducing a student Alizah Riaz of Jhang who took first position in the International Kangaroo Competition of Mathematics, told the media that Alizah had won laurels for the country by getting first position among children of 27 countries. He gave computer tab to Alizah and also announced a cash prize of Rs 10,000 whereas a cash prize of Rs 10,000 was also announced for the talented students on behalf of the Zoha Foundation. He said a meeting of Alizah Riaz with the chief minister Punjab would also be arranged.
