The West Zone police claimed to have arrested a target killer associated with a religious party on Monday.
The detainee confessed to killing a doctor, a policeman and a factory manager because they had refused to pay extortion money.
West DIG Capt (retd) Tahir Naveed brought the accused Abdur Rahim before the media. He confessed to killing factory manager Saleemuddin in Sector 16B of Gabol Town.
Police said the accused was identified and arrested with the help of footage obtained from closed-circuit television cameras.
The accused said he and his accomplices named Ayaz, Anwar and Ahmed extorted money from many people and killed some of them when they refused.
He said they had killed Dr Arif Mustafa Siddiqui in Buffer Zone, adding that when a police party had tried to intercept them in Sector 6C of New Karachi, they had opened fire on them, leaving police constable Aijaz Ahmed dead and another cop injured.
The accused also confessed to killing a man near Saba Chowrangi in New Karachi because he had resisted a robbery bid; another man was injured in the incident.
DIG Naveed said the West Zone police had expedited their campaign against criminals in their jurisdiction, adding that 10 criminals, including three terrorists, had been killed in the past few days.
