Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan summoned the next session of the provincial assembly at 10am on January 19.
The last session of the assembly ended on December 10 when the lawmakers unanimously adopted a resolution in connection International Human Rights Day and called upon the government to constitute a judicial commission to investigate the recent discoveries of mutilated bodies of missing activists of Sindhi nationalist parties in Nooriabad near the Super Highway and the Sindh-Balochistan border. That sitting also adopted five bills.
On December 9, the assembly had unanimously passed three private bills paving the way for the constitution of universities in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Nawabshah (the first two varsities to be named after Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and the third one to be named after the slain former prime minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Benazir Bhutto.
