Project on cultural heritage inaugurated

MANSEHRA: A project titled “Campaign for Protection of Cultural Heritage in and Around Hazara University” was inaugurated at the Senate Hall of the campus on Saturday.
The project, funded by the USEFP-Pak US Alumni Network (USEFP-PUAN), will be launched by the Department of Archaeology, Hazara University, said a press release.
The event was attended by the academic and administrative staff as well as students and scholars of the university and representatives of the local community, while Prof Dr Habib Ahmad, vice-chancellor of Hazara University, was chief guest.
Dr Shakirullah, head, Department of Archaeology and principal investigator of the project, briefed the participants about the project.
Dr Shakirullah said the main aims and objectives of the project were to raise awareness among the community, educate the students of different levels (school, college and university), highlight the historical and architectural importance of the heritage sites & monuments through publication, seminars, lectures and counseling.
Dr Shakirullah also extended his gratitude to the Pak-US Alumni Network for their financial support and cooperation. He also thanked the administration of Hazara University for their cooperation to make the project a success.
Prof Dr Habib Ahmad, the vice-chancellor, appreciated the contributions of the Department of Archaeology for the development of cultural heritage in the region.
