ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) is conducting the registration examination of Pakistanis who graduated from foreign medical/dental colleges today (Saturday) at Comsats, Islamabad.
About 3,000 candidates are appearing in the examination. Strict security arrangement would be in place on the occasion. The Management Committee while talking to the media emphasised that they are trying to hold a transparent examination for the foreign graduates and ensuring that there should not be any security breach during the examination.
The committee said that this is a record number of medical and dental graduates who are appearing in the National Examination Board (NEB) since it started in 1992. All the candidates have acquired their basic qualification from abroad from foreign medical and dental colleges/universities including China, Russia, Bangladesh, Philippines and Iran and other countries. They apprised that the current examination is being conducted under the supervision of National Examination Board of PMDC with the help of University of Health Sciences, Lahore which provided the academic support.
Chairman Management Committee Maj Gen (R) Professor Dr Azhar Mehmood Kayani said that all the medical/dental foreign students concerned are welcome to raise their queries. He emphasised that if any employee of PMDC or outsider asks for any money/monetary benefit from the student, they can submit their complaints any time to the Management Committee.
He said the purpose of this examination is to evaluate the competency and clinical skills of the graduates in order to issue them the licence to practice and register their foreign qualifications as required under the law.
