DIR: A woman was killed and six other persons of a family were injured when a car fell into the river in Doog Darra area on Thursday.Cops at the Sheringal Police Station said that the family members were on way to attend a wedding ceremony when the vehicle fell into the river at Badarkani. The accident occurred apparently owing to brakes failure. As a result, a woman identified as Toorsila died on the spot while driver, Salman, his two uncles, Irfan and Ameeruddin, aunt, Nazia, brother Sohail and a sister were injured.

PESHAWAR: JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq on Thursday said that the lust for power and fear of America had weakened the faith of Muslim rulers and they were playing the role of silent spectators over the genocide of Muslims in Myanmar. Addressing a meeting at a hotel here, he said the silence of Ummah on killing of innocent Muslims was deplorable. He observed that the NGOs making tall claims of human rights usually made issues out of non-issues in Pakistan.

Maulana Fazl, PAF chief meet prime minister

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman on Thursday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at PM House. Professional matters relating to PAF, with particular reference to operation Zarb-e-Azb, came under discussion during the meeting. Ongoing JF-17 project was also discussed in the backdrop of the air chief’s recent visit to China. The premier said the government would continue to provide requisite resources to PAF enabling it to meet any future challenge. Later, Maulana Fazlur Rehman also called on the prime minister at the PM House and discussed the overall political situation in the country.

SUKKUR: Relatives of five-year-old Fauzia alias Sindhu Soomro, who was suffocated to death after being sexually abused by accused here in the Yar Muhammad Colony, Larkana, a few months back pardoned the arrested accused on Thursday. She refused to identify the three accused during the hearing at the ATC Court. According to reports, Begum Khatoon, mother of victim Fauzia alias Sindhu Soomro, who was suffocated to death after sexual assault in the limits of Waleed Police Station, appeared in the court along with two other witnesses Allah Dino alias Manthar Soomro and Abdul Karim Soomro. They recorded their statements at the ATC Court, Larkana, and refused to identify accused Younis alias Bablu Jatoi, Shoaib Jatoi and Yar Muhammad Jatoi. The next hearing will be held on 13 June 2015. Sources informed that family of Fauzia alias Sindhu Soomro had pardoned the accused after reconciliation. The accused paid blood money to the victim family.

Forgers held in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police arrested four persons for putting fake signatures on the forms of Nadra here on Thursday, sources said. The sources said the police party reached the district courts and Katchehry and arrested four persons identified as Israr, Qayyum, Aashiq and Asfandyar. An official said that they were touts and were doing fake attestation on the forms of the Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC). The police registered case against them under sections 419, 420, 468 and 471 PPC.

Girl’s alleged killers arrested

BATKHELA: Four alleged killers of a girl student were arrested here on Thursday, a senior official said. Deputy Commissioner of Malakand Agency Ali Abbas Khan told reporters that the personnel of the Malakand Levies raided several places and arrested the accused Mohsin, Israful Haq, Muhammad Gul and Nizamul Haq. He said that the accused tried to kidnap the student, Laiba Daud, when she was coming home from the Government Girls High School, Haryankot village, last week. He said that they shot her dead when she put resistance. “Actually her parents had refused to accept the marriage proposal sent for her by the accused,” he maintained.

Kidnapped woman recovered

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police on Thursday recovered a woman who had been kidnapped last month and arrested the accused, sources said. The sources said that Farmanullah Marwat had allegedly kidnapped a married woman from the College Road on May 5 and shifted her to an undisclosed location.

KP cabinet to meet on 15th

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet will meet on June 15 to discuss and approve the annual budget for the financial year 2015-16. According to a notification of the Finance Department, the special budget meeting of the provincial cabinet is scheduled for June 13 (Saturday) at 11am. It has been re-scheduled for June 15 (Monday) at 11am.

Schools in Orakzai to be reopened

HANGU: Officials issued directives for reopening of schools in Orakzai Agency after end of military operation. Political Agent Muhammad Zubair Khan along with Colonel Zahir visited Drand Sheikhan area in central parts of Orakzai Agency. This was the first visit of the political administration official to the area after military operation. He issued directives of reopening of schools, which remained closed for eight years.

New SSP operations for Capital Police
