Sixteen nomination papers filed in Chakwal

From Our Correspondent

CHAKWAL: Sixteen nomination papers were filed for local government elections on Sunday.

Hundreds of nomination papers have been taken and it is likely that these nomination papers will be filed till December 27, which is the last date for filing the papers. Fourteen Returning Officers have been appointed for 72 Union Councils and five Municipal Committees in the district. District Election Officer Shahid Islam said Nadra would provide electoral list for union councils and wards on December 24 and the list will be available for candidates on December 25. All political parties have finalised their candidates, however, there are seat adjustments at some union councils. It would be a close contest between the candidates of PML-N and former district nazim group, Sardar Ghulam Abbas. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan People’s Party, PML-Q, Jamaat-e-Islami and other parties failed to field their potential candidates and it is likely that these parties would have seat adjustments Sardar Ghulam Abbas Group to give a tough time to PML-N candidates. There are three to four candidates at every constituency who were keen to get PML-N ticket and a good number of candidates would fail to PML-N tickets. This situation may put the PML-N in trouble.
