LG reps threaten protest if demands not met
PESHAWAR: The joint action forum of elected representatives in the City District Council here on Wednesday threatened to hold the next session of the council outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and move the court of law if their genuine demands were not met within a week.
The forum members, including Saeed Zahir Advocate of the Awami National Party (ANP), Razaullah Khan of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Rahman Afzal, Rahamdil Nawaz Khan, Tahir Zareen of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) told a press conference that their development funds and honorarium have not been released.
The representatives said the basic purpose of the local government should be to resolve the problems of the people, but unfortunately, the government had failed to do so. They asked the prime minister, chief minister and minister for local government to honour their commitment and provide them with their rights. The forum members sought the release of the third and fourth installments of the development funds 2018. They threatened to hold the session of the district council outside the KP Assembly and launch a protest movement if their demands were not met.
