ISLAMABAD: Vice Admiral DWAS Dissanayake, Commander Sri Lanka Navy, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ) here on Friday.
Upon arrival at NHQ, the Commander Sri Lanka Navy and his wife were received by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy, clad in ceremonial dress, presented him the Guard of Honour.
The visiting dignitary was then introduced to Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the NHQ.Later, Vice Admiral DWAS Dissanayake, called on Chief of the Naval Staff in his office, where he held detailed discussions on professional matters with his counterpart.
A comprehensive brief on PN Role in Regional Maritime Security Situation and Operational developments was also given to the Vice Admiral. The visiting dignitary is on a second leg of his tour. He had earlier visited PN units and installations at Karachi and Lahore.
Vice Admiral DWAS Dissanayake joined Sri Lanka Navy in 1977. Besides commanding the Sri Lanka Navy, he has had the privilege to hold a number of Command and Staff appointments. He was also made Chief of Staff (Navy) in recognition of his invaluable contributions towards eliminating terrorism from the Motherland.
The Admiral is a distinguished alumnus of the National Defence University, Washington D.C and Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies, Hawaii, USA. He is a graduate of National Defence College, New Delhi, India and the recipient of Masters in Philosophy in Defence and Strategic Studies.
