Flour mills appeal for subsidy on taxes
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Flourmills Association (PFMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter (KP-PFMA), chairman Haji Muhammad Iqbal, has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to give reasonable subsidy in income tax and other extra taxes on electricity consumed by the flourmills industry in the province.
In a statement issued here on Monday, he said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa flourmills industry made strenuous efforts in the prevailing emergency situation and did not create flour crisis despite the wheat shortage in the province. “Though there is a shortage of labourers and wheat due to the coronavirus pandemic, the KP flourmills industry has arranged extra labour to continue supply and cope with the rising demand for flour in the province,” the KP PFMA chief said. He also added that flour was being provided to the people at all flourmills across the province. The association leader Naeem Butt said that federal and provincial governments should know the fact that they had continued flour supply unabated despite wheat crisis in the flourmills. He demanded both the governments to remove bottlenecks in the way of purchasing new wheat produce from Sindh, cut taxes and give a reasonable subsidy to the flourmills industry in the province.
