KARACHI: The federal interior ministry and the senior minister, Sindh government, have refused to help the daughter of a senior bureaucrat of the federal government in a blasphemy case registered against her in Karachi.
Eraj Sajjad, the daughter of a famous bureaucrat, wrote letters to Federal Interior Ministry and Senior Minister Sindh Nisar Khuhro seeking security for herself and withdrawal of a blasphemy case registered against her at the Taimuria Police Station of Karachi.
Federal Interior Ministry and Senior Minister Sindh Nisar Khuhro refused to help her. The Interior Ministry, in a letter to her, said that as she had been formally implicated in a case of a serious nature and this ministry could not help her.On the other hand, Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro, while refusing her any help, suggested approaching the proper forum of the court of law.
In her letter, she narrated that she had escaped from her residence in Lahore because her parents wanted her to marry a businessman Imtiaz Alam against her will. According to her, Imtiaz Alam belonged to a wealthy family and was an influential person therefore he managed to register a false blasphemy case by using his influence and money against her to get revenge as she had refused to marry him. In her letter, she sought protection and withdrawal of the false blasphemy case against her.
The Karachi Police had registered FIR 701/2013 on 14th December 2013 against Eraj Sajjad under Section 295-C of blasphemy law with the written complaint and undertaking of Imtiaz Alam accusing Eraj Sajjad for giving derogatory remarks on a very sensitive religious issue.
Eraj Sajjad pleaded before the Interior Ministry as well as senior minister Sindh and said that she had taken shelter in Karachi as her parents wanted to marry her with a person of their own choice against her will and after she refused and left her house, her parents and that person Imtiaz Alam turned against her and they all wanted to kill her in the name of honour.She also demanded security and requested for the withdrawal of the FIR against her in the said letter.
