The food inspector

This refers to the news report, ‘A shining star in bureaucracy’ (July 28). It is highly commendable for the Punjab Health Department to have a strong woman like Ayesha Mumtaz. Her resilient efforts and hard work in exposing the unhygienic food sold by different bakeries and restaurants is an eye-opener for everyone.
It was shocking to read that even five-star hotels were preparing unhygienic food and charging exorbitant prices. The Punjab government should initiate strict action against all hotels and restaurants that have failed to maintain hygiene and fine them heavily and after the second visit if they are still found preparing unhygienic food, they should be closed for good. Consumers should be made aware of such places through the media.
