KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday appointed former Test batsman Haroon Rasheed as the new chief selector.
Haroon, 62, replaces Moin Khan who had to face the axe after being recalled home from New Zealand for visiting a Casino in Christchurch before Pakistan’s World Cup game against West Indies.
He will be at the helm of a four-member national selection committee that includes former internationals Kabir Khan, who was previously the coach of Afghanistan, Azhar Khan and Saleem Jaffar.
Haroon, who played 23 Tests and 12 One-day Internationals for Pakistan between 1977-83, has previously served as a member of the selection committee on two different occasions, as well as twice being head of the junior selection committee. He is currently working as game development manager at the National Cricket Academy but will have to relinquish this post.
