Meagre allocation made for health in budget: CJP
Asks govt to review its decision; says state responsible for catering to all basic needs of citizens
JAMSHORO: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said a meager allocation has been made in the budget for health compared to other sectors and the government must review its decision in this regard.
Addressing a convocation at the Liaquat Medical University here, the CJP said the government should take action against ghost employees who were pocketing salaries while sitting at homes.
Justice Jamali emphasized the need for making solid legislation to secure the lives of the masses.
He said the health departments’ performance was the worst in small cities and villages where fake doctors play with the lives of poor citizens.
The CJP said provision of basic needs to citizens was the responsibility of the state and social progress was impossible without justice.
He said the provision of complete justice was the duty of the top court and people attached to the superior judiciary try their best to provide justice to the masses.
Expressing concern over ghost employees in the health department, he said several maternity homes in Karachi were playing with the lives of people. “Legislation is needed to stop such crimes in society,” he said.
