Karachi
The provincial information adviser said on Tuesday that municipal agencies had been devolved powers in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
“More powers can be devolved to municipal bodies if the need arises,” Moula Bakhsh Chandio told reporters.
To a question, Chandio said there could be a difference of opinion in democracy but that should not lead to animosity between political rivals.
He said several anti-peace elements and terrorists in Karachi had been killed, captured or forced to escape from the city.
Anti-corruption measures
Home minister Sohail Anwar Khan Siyal chaired a meeting of the provincial anti-corruption establishment, wherein he sought a report on the instances of corruption under way in the police force and prisons.
The home minister, who also holds the additional portfolio of the anti-corruption establishment, directed that the report should be submitted to him within 15 days.
The minister said corrupt elements in official circles should be taken to task without any discrimination.
