PESHAWAR: Mayor Zubair Ali on Sunday announced five boreholes to provide clean drinking water to the people residing in Shaheen Muslim Town. Neighbourhood Council (NC)-24, Imranabad NC-25 and Sheikhabad NC-31 will benefit from the schemes.
The young mayor, who belongs to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF), made the announcement while visiting the three councils and meeting people there. He was accompanied by the officials of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar, Health and Education departments.
NC-24 Chairman Muhammad Ismail, NC-25 Imranabad Chairman Syed Wazir, NC-31 Sheikhabad Chairman Naeem and JUIF Naib Ameer for PK-77 Fazlur Rehman and General Secretary Mohammad Saeed, and elders of the areas were present as well.
Zubair Ali spoke at three Khuli Katchehris or public forums separately where he met the people of the areas and listened to their problems.
He has launched a mass contact movement recently by holding public forums and meeting people from various sections of the society in the Peshawar district recently as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government has through legislation cut the Local Government representatives' powers.
