LONDON: Mansoor Ijaz, the man at the centre of the memogate scandal, has said that all arrangements regarding his travel to Pakistan have been made but the details will not be shared with media for security reasons.
In a telephonic conversation with The News from an undisclosed location, he refused to divulge details of the arrangements made or the identity of those responsible for facilitating him in these arrangements including securing of his visa. “Visa to Pakistan is not an issue at all” he pointed out.
Responding to a query he said, “I am no longer going to make any comment on my travel plans. I will not disclose to media anything about my travel plans and I have genuine reasons to act like that”, adding, “there is an orchestration of lies and confusions by some people about me and my plans to visit Pakistan.
These lies are being peddled to affect my planning”. Turning his guns on the former Pakistan ambassador to the US, he dubbed him as “yesterday’s friend and today’s enemy” and claimed that when he came and revealed the truth it would be “very bitter for one man” and that his facts “would become a noose around his neck and will put an end to his lies and spins”.
Mansoor Ijaz made these comments at a time when the Pakistani media had camped outside Pakistan High Commission in London, anticipating his arriving there to file his visa application. However, Mansoor did not approach the Pakistan High Commission in London to submit his visa application on Friday.
“Pakistan Foreign Office had directed the Pakistan High Commission on 9th January 2012 to issue visa to Mansoor Ijaz as soon as he submits his application. Ever since, no visa application has been submitted by Ijaz,” Pakistan High Commission said in a statement. No one was available to comment in Pakistan Embassy in Bern, Switzerland to confirm or deny whether Mr. Ijaz had applied there for a visa.
