KARACHI: The Director of FIA, Sindh, and the FIA officer investigating into the loss of hundreds of millions of rupees caused by the AKD Securities to the national exchequer have been summoned to Islamabad. After the arrest of three officers of the AKD Group by the FIA, Aqeel Karim Dhedi had strongly criticized the FIA, especially the director of FIA, Sindh, Shahid Hayat.

Shahid Hayat is a principled and honest officer of Sindh Police, and when the investigation into the said case was launched, Shahid Hayat had not been posted on the current post.

Deputy Director of FIA, Altaf Hussain, has already mentioned this before at a press conference that the FIA action is a continuation of a report which emerged in 2010 during the Pakistan People’s Party government, a period when the incumbent director Shahid Hayat had not been on this post.  According to sources, the investigation officer investigating into the case, Siraj Panhwar, and the director of FIA, Sindh, Shahid Hayat, have been summoned to Islamabad.

According to FIA sources, an indication has been passed on to the officials concerned to “go slow” as far as the investigations into the case are concerned and that for the time being and until further orders are given to them they should follow the policy of “wait and see”.

Meanwhile, when the Director of FIA, Sindh, Shahid Hayat, was asked for comments in this regard, he did confirm that the investigation officer in this case and he are in Islamabad. However, he did not confirm regarding any kind of instructions having been communicated to him.
