Three more die of corona, 541 new cases reported
Islamabad : The fourth wave of coronavirus illness, COVID-19 outbreak, has got much more intense here in Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district as in the last two days, as many as 950 new patients belonging to the twin cities have been diagnosed with the infection.
The positivity rate of the illness is being recorded as well over eight per cent in the region while in Rawalpindi district, the positive ratio has turned out to be 12.93 per cent in the last 24 hours that is the highest in the last three months or so. Of 1,376 tests conducted in the district, 178 patients were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Data collected by ‘The News’ reveals that in the last 24 hours, as many as three more patients have died of COVID-19 from the region taking the death toll to 1,820 while 541 new patients have been tested positive from ICT and Rawalpindi district that is the highest number of cases reported in a day from the region after May 1 this year.
The total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has got to 113,238 on Thursday. The virus has claimed one more life from ICT in the last 24 hours and two from the Rawalpindi district while 376 new patients have been reported from the federal capital and 165 from Rawalpindi. To date, a total of 86,602 patients have been tested positive for COVID-19 from ICT and 26,636 from Rawalpindi.
A total of 82,992 patients from ICT have recovered from the illness and 24,744 from Rawalpindi while the number of active cases of the disease from the federal capital has jumped to 2,813 on Thursday after addition of 231 active cases in the last 24 hours.
The number of active cases from Rawalpindi was recorded as 869 on Thursday after the addition of 87 active cases in the last 24 hours.
To date, a total of 797 patients from ICT have died of COVID-19 while 1023 patients from Rawalpindi have so far lost their lives due to the illness.
According to the district health office Rawalpindi, a total of 79 confirmed patients were admitted to the healthcare facilities in the district while 790 were in home isolation on Thursday.
