PESHAWAR: Central acting president of Awami National Party (ANP) Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has suspended the basic membership of former member provincial assembly Alamgir Khalil, member of the central executive council Imran Afridi and Javed Khattak for violating party rules.
According to a press release issued from Baacha Khan Markaz, the disciplinary action was taken after consultation with the party central leadership, think-tank and other office-bearers of the central office-bearers of the Pakhtun nationalist party.
The press release stated that show-cause notices were issued to Alamgir Khalil, Imran Afridi and Javed Khattak on July 15 for their alleged involvement in forming groups within the party and violating party rules by arranging meetings without the consensus of the party provincial and central leadership.
It stated that response of the show-cause notices were termed unsatisfactory by the party central leadership and thus their basic membership was suspended for an indefinite period.
Alamgir Khan Khalil was elected to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the ANP ticket from Peshawar in the 2008 general election. He had vied for the National Assembly seat from Peshawar in the 2018 election but lost to the PTI candidate.
