Man wanted in murder cases killed in ‘encounter’

LAHORE:A suspect wanted in murder cases was killed in a ‘police encounter’ in Kot Lakhpat by CIA Model Town here on Sunday.

The suspect identified as Farooq Dar was wanted by Sri Lankan police and international police. The suspect, a resident of Chung, was allegedly involved in murders in Muridke, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Daska, Karachi, Sukkur and Sahiwal. He was also involved in a murder in Sri Lanka. He was allegedly a hired assassin. He murdered a man in District Courts Lahore for money. He was arrested two days back near Lahore Railway Station. Police said they were taking him for identification when his accomplices on seeing the police party started firing. As a result, he was killed in the encounter. A case has been registered against the encounter.

held for rape BID: A suspect was arrested for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl in Shadbagh. The suspect was identified as Sohail. The victim was home alone when the suspect entered the house by jumping a wall and attempted sexual assault. The girl offered resistance and cried. The neighbours on hearing hue and cry reached there, but the suspect fled. The police were informed who arrested him.

Meanwhile, A suspect has been arrested for attempting to assault on a minor girl in the Johar Town area on Monday. The arrested suspect has been identified as Mehboob. The suspect, a neighbour of the victim, lured the girl and took her to the roof of the house where he attempted sexual assault on her. She resisted and started crying. Nearby people rescued her and handed over the victim to police after giving him a good thrash.

Arrested: An armed man trying to enter sessions courts was arrested here on Monday. The suspect has been identified as Zafar. Police on suspicion checked him and recovered a weapon and bullets from his custody. He was handed over to local police.

ACCIDENTS: Around 16 people died and 1,171 were injured in 1,053 road accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Over 732 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals and 439 minor injured were treated at the accident site.
