COVID-19 claims two more lives, 178 new cases

Rawalpindi : COVID-19 has claimed another two lives from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the region to 1,804 while 178 new patients have been diagnosed with the infection taking the tally from the twin cities to 111,417.

According to In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid, the positivity rate of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi has turned out to be 7.17 per cent in the last 24 hours as out of 823 samples tested, 59 have been confirmed positive for the disease.

He added that to date, a total of 104,3329 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the district including 100,9148 citizens and 34,181 healthcare workers.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Saturday reveals that in the last 24 hours, another patient died of the illness from Rawalpindi district taking the death toll from the district to 1,014 while one death due to coronavirus illness from ICT took the death toll from the federal capital to 790.

As many as 57 new patients belonging to Rawalpindi district have been reported positive in the last 24 hours taking the tally from the district to 26,066 of which 24,370 patients have recovered. The number of active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi district was 682 on Saturday of which 59 confirmed patients were undergoing treatment at different healthcare facilities in town while 623 patients were in home isolation.

In the last 24 hours, confirmation of another 121 patients positive from ICT has taken tally to 85,351 of which 82,333 patients have recovered. The number of active cases of the disease from the federal capital was recorded as 2,228 on Saturday after recovery of 157 patients in the last 24 hours.
