Afghan refugees celebrate Eidul Azha in KP
PESHAWAR: The Afghan refugees living in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrated the Eid ul Azha festival on Tuesday.
They offered the Eid ul Azha prayers in various parts of KP on Tuesday, exchanged greetings and sacrificed animals as per Sunnah of Holy Prophet (PBUH).
One such congregation was held at the Khazana village, on the outskirts of the provincial metropolis.
The village has a refugee settlement, which is called Khazana Camp and is sited near the Charsadda Road.
The Afghan refugees offered special prayers for peace in their country, which is facing an uncertain future in view of the ongoing withdrawal of the United States and other western security forces.
They slaughtered sacrificial animals to mark the festival.
The Afghan refugees also offered Eid ul Azha prayers at Board Bazaar, which houses a sufficient number of their population.
They marked the occasion in tribal districts as well with religious fervour. The people of Afghanistan have been celebrating the festivals of Eid ul Fitr and Eidul Azha with Saudi Arabia since long.
The Afghans, who took shelter in Pakistan, mainly KP and Balochistan, after the civil unrest in their country following the invasion of their country by the now-defunct Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) in 1979 have adhered to the practice by marking the festival with Saudi Arabia.
