SHC reserves order on Khursheed Shah’s bail plea
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday reserved order on a bail petition filed by former opposition leader and Pakistan People Party MNA Syed Khurheed Ahmed Shah in a National Accountability Bur eau’s investigation pertaining to assets beyond known sources of income.
The petitioner's counsel submitted that his client has been incarcerated for last two years without any substantial evidence. He submitted that prosecution have placed 44 witnesses which would take sufficient long time to be examined before the trial court and it would be unjust for the petitioner to be kept behind bars without completion of the trial.
Opposing the bail petition of the PPP leader, the NAB's special prosecutor submitted that petitioner remained admitted in the National Institute Of Cardio Vascular Diseases after initiation of the inquiry and there was no delay on behalf of NAB in the inquiry. He submitted that the case was referred to the competent authority after completion of the inquiry in accordance with the law. The NAB alleged that PPP leader got his moveable and immovable properties including a hotel in Shikarpur, amenity land into residential bungalow and petrol pumps transferred in name of front man/ benamidars and other family members. The SHC after hearing the arguments of the petitioner and NAB counsel reserved the order and directed the parties to file their written synopsis with regard to case if any before the court within two days.
