Tirah people to get compensation cheques: MPA

TIRAH: The newly-elected office-bearers of the Anjuman-e-Tajiran of Tirah valley on Monday took the oath of their offices.

Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Shafiq Afridi, who was the chief guest, administered oath to the office-bearers at a ceremony here. Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Aamir Zeb, politicians, shopkeepers, members of civil society and elders were present on the occasion.

The newly-elected office-bearers included President Sher Muhammad Afridi and others. MPA Shafiq Afridi said the Tirah valley people had been facing a lot of problems for the last several years. “Now, the KP government is focussing on the merged districts to provide all facilities to the people,” MPA added.

He said the militancy and subsequent military operations had caused losses to businesses in Tirah area in the past. The lawmaker announced development schemes for the main three bazaars. These included solar lights, drinking water supply and embankments of tiver.

Shafiq Afridi added the government would release compensation cheques to the people of Tirah valley soon whose houses had been damaged. Later, MPA and TMO inaugurated TMA office.
