PESHAWAR: Former federal minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nawabzada Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has invited politicians, former lawmakers and some retired bureaucrats to discuss the prevailing political situation.
The meeting is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on June 26.
The central and provincial leaders of the major political parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Awami National Party (ANP), former MNAs, MPAs, former candidates and retired bureaucrats will participate in the gathering.
The meeting will discuss the opposition’s strategy for 2023 general election and what could be their future line of action.
The participants will discuss whether the sitting government has been able to solve the problems of the people and whether or not the residents of merged districts were satisfied with the new system and what will be the strategy of the political parties for the next local bodies elections.
The meeting will discuss whether the federal government had properly addressed the issues facing the province including net hydel profit arrears, water, oil and gas royalty, tobacco cess and others.
Commenting on the aims and objectives of the meeting, a party worker wishing not to be named said that there was a political vacuum and the problems of people were not being properly raised at proper forums.
“The people are disappointed and they had no proper forum to raise their issue,” he opined.
This, he said, would be a type of jirga and later they would draw the future line of action.
“We will hold meetings with the elders and people at every district and divisional level to draw future line of action,” he said.
According to him, the people were disappointed with the present state of affairs and they would provide them a platform to raise their voice for the solution of the problems.
