KHAR: A group of expatriate workers here on Friday blocked the Bajaur-Peshawar road to protest the shortage of Covid-19 vaccine, saying they could not travel abroad without being vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
Carrying banners and placards, the protesters had gathered at Khar Chowk to stage a protest demonstration.
One of the protesters, Hanifullah Khan, said their visas were going to expire, asking the authorities to help them get vaccinated.
They pointed out that the expatriates could not travel to the countries, where they worked as they could not be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The protesters said they would face financial loss if they were unable to report for duty on time.
Meanwhile, the health authorities said the matter had been brought into the notice of the high-ups to arrange vaccine for the expatriates so that they could proceed abroad without any hindrance.
The officials admitted that the expatriates could not be vaccinated due to the shortage of the vaccine.
