Three more coronavirus patients die in Multan

MULTAN: Three more coronavirus patients died at Nishtar Hospital, Multan during the last 24 hours.

According to the hospital officials, Hameeda Bibi, 85, Shabeeran, 55 and Wasim, 36, of Multan tested positive for coronavirus and died at the hospital during treatment.

Hospital spokesperson Dr Irfan Ahmed said some 122 coronavirus confirmed and suspected patients were receiving treatment at the hospital. Some 52 people tested positive for coronavirus in the Multan division out of 2,343 people and reports of 15,008 people are being awaited.

In Multan district coronavirus tests of 986 people were conducted and 39 tested positive for the virus and reports of 6,747 people were being awaited.

In Khanewal district coronavirus tests of 955 people were conducted.

Mock exercise: Rescue-1122 staffers Friday organised the first mock exercise to cope with floods at Sher Shah Bridge on the west bank of Chenab River.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad inspected the exercise.

District Emergency Officer Dr Kaleemullah told the participants about the techniques of flood fighting. Rescue-1122 veterans demonstrated their hands-on training during the exercise.

Camps were established by Waste Management Company, Health Department, Livestock, Civil Defense, Metropolitan Corporation, Social Welfare on the occasion. On the occasion, the DC said effective coordination among all agencies was essential for handling possible floods. The Wasa authorities have identified low-lying areas of the city to establish flood relief camps in case of flood situation in all four tehsils. A flood control room has also been established in the DC office and the public have been informed to call on 11188-0800 for information and complaints regarding floods.
