AJK MP feared dead as vehicle plunges in river
By News Desk
MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) lawmaker and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate for the forthcoming AJK general elections, Sardar Saghir Chughtai was among four people feared dead after his vehicle plunged into the Jhelum River on Friday morning. Chughtai was on his way to Rawalakot from Rawalpindi when he met the accident at about 7.00am, authorities told state-run APP. They believe his vehicle met an accident with another car and fell into the river.
Authorities had still not located both vehicles due to the fast current of the deep river as the last reports came in. The mishap is feared to have killed at least four of the people travelling in the two vehicles, according to the authorities.
Chughtai was recently nominated as candidate of the PTI from AJK’s Electoral Constituency LA-22 Rawalakot, Poonch Division, for the AJK Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled to be held on July 25 this year.
Chughtai had, in the recent past, parted ways from the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, and joined the PTI AJK to contest the elections.
