PO wanted in cop murder killed in ‘encounter’

LAHORE:A suspected robber involved in the martyrdom of a police constable a few days ago in Mohlanwal was killed in an alleged police encounter here on early Thursday.

Sub-inspector Imran Yousaf of CIA Model Town Police said he along with other policemen were on Mohlanwal Chowk when they received information that four suspected robbers involved in shop robberies were hiding in a dysfunctional factory on Multan Road. He said as a police party reached the factory, the robbers started firing. The police party returned the fire. An exchange of fire continued for at least 20-25 minutes. After this, police entered the factory and found a robber lying in a pool of blood near a 12-bore pump action. Police recovered 12 bullets of the gun from the crime scene. Police recovered an ID card and Rs 1130 in cash from the body. The suspect was identified as M Asif. When CRO record was checked, the suspect was found to be a proclaimed offender and was wanted by Kasur Police. Police recovered a 125 bike from the factory. Meanwhile, two constables of Sundar Police Muhafiz Tariq and Raheel reached the spot. They identified the suspect that he had shot dead a police constable, M Qaiser, in a police encounter after a shop robbery.

Minor girls reunited with parents: Achieving great success Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) Lost & Found Centre reunited two minor girls with their parents here on Thursday.

According to the details, the missing girls named Eisha Fatima 10, and Muqaddas 12 were found by a citizen Ahmed within the boundaries of the Harbanspura police station. The parents of the missing girls reported at 15. After contacting the respective parents, Punjab Safe Cities Authority Lost and Found Centre handed the girls to them. PSCA spokesperson says that the citizens must report about a lost and found person at 15 emergency helpline.

Rickshaw driver found dead: A rickshaw driver was found dead in a washroom in Township area here on Thursday. The body was spotted in a washroom at Ghousia Chowk. Police removed the body to morgue. Initial investigation revealed that the man, 23, was a rickshaw driver. Police said the cause of the death would be ascertained after an autopsy.

Man dies from heat stroke: A man died from heat stroke near a private housing society in Jorhye Pull here on Thursday. The man identified as Sajjad Maseeh was riding a bike with his brother when he asked his brother to stop the bike and bring him some water. He fell unconscious and died. Edhi Foundation shifted the victim to his residence on Walton Road. The foundation official suspected that the man might have died due to heat stroke.

MAN HELD FOR KILLING EX-WIFE: A man turned out to be a murderer of his former 28-year-old wife in Iqbal Town. Samreen Akbar was married to Waqas. They had two children. The couple had divorced. A dispute was going on between them over custody of children. The suspect a few days back entered the house of the victim and strangled her. To hide his crime, he threw his mobile phones in a drain and approached the police for a report that his bike was missing.
