A day without COVID death in twin cities

Rawalpindi : The population in Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district witnessed a day without reporting of death due to coronavirus illness, COVID-19 on Saturday after over three months though 126 new patients have been reported from the region in the last 24 hours showing the outbreak is still intact.

It is alarming that in the last 24 hours, the positivity rate of COVID-19 has been recorded as 5.01 per cent in Rawalpindi district where almost all private and public sector educational institutions at all levels are going to be operational from tomorrow (Monday). It is important that educational institutions have already reopened in the district last week to operate classes for matriculation and intermediate levels. The positivity rate recorded in the district in the last 24 hours is the highest. In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Jawad Zahid informed ‘The News’ that out of 1,105 samples tested for COVID-19 in the district in the last 24 hours, 55 were tested positive at a positivity rate of 5.01pc.
