PESHAWAR: TransPeshawar on Thursday claimed that Pakistan’s first ever bicycle sharing service is part of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and would be launched in due course.

A statement issued by TransPeshawar on the International Cycling Day stated that after the successful operation of BRT, the company was giving final touches to the project of the Zu bicycle sharing system following all its requisites.

He said that the BRT system and ZU bicycle sharing system is designed and built to transform lives in the provincial capital. In the first phase of ZU bicycle project, 360 state-of-the-art chainless bicycles and 32 docking stations were established in Hayatabad and University of Peshawar.

Despite the Covid-19 outbreak, the project holds more than 180 registrations, which are increasing day by day, and upon re-opening of all educational institutes in the city, the number of registrations may hike.

The project would be helpful in promotion of pollution-free transport in Peshawar. The company said the ZU bicycle sharing system would help lessen the load of traffic in the city and urged citizens to take care and own the system.
