JHELUM: Angry protesters attacked and burnt a worship place belonging to a non-Muslim minority sect (not Christians) in Jhelum, a day after torching a factory in response to rumours about alleged blasphemy.
Meanwhile, police arrested the security officer of the factory and registered a case of blasphemy.
A spokesman of the victims said their properties including eight cars were burnt after leveling a false charge of blasphemy. He asked the government to take action against the responsible persons. The interior ministry said police and army had been deployed in Jhelum district and that there were no casualties. Punjab provincial police said the situation in Jhelum was under control.
