SUKKUR: It is PPP’s moment of reckoning: What went wrong in Badin? PPP sources told The News that Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who is also the provincial president of the party, is likely to explain, nay respond, to the party high-ups about what went wrong in Badin. How did Zulfiqar Mirza manage to “demolish” PPP candidates in Badin?
Sources said that some people are now wondering if Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s whirlwind electioneering tour of Badin just a day or two before the local government elections had been totally unsuccessful.
They also said that there had been some expression of dissatisfaction over the speech that Bilawal had delivered in Badin during electioneering there. Reportedly, one criticism concerning Bilawal’s speech was that it had failed in motivating the electorates in Badin.
Sources said that the chief minister had summoned a meeting with some senior party leaders to detect the factors responsible for the party’s defeat in Badin. Meanwhile, political analysts said that Zulfiqar Mirza had run an organised political campaign and that he had managed to reach the grassroots.
