Helpless consumers continuously facing difficulties as per routine as Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) employees for a couple of days have locked their offices in protest against the expected privatisation of Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda).
The workers of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) serving in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad gathered here in front of Rawalpindi Press Club (RPC) office and recorded their protest against the government. The angry protesters not only blocked Benazir Bhutto Road but Kutchery Road as well. The motorists and pedestrians faced difficulties during protest demonstration of Iesco employees on Wednesday.
During the protests there was bumper to bumper traffic on all roads in Rawalpindi. The traffic wardens seemed helpless on the occasion trying to divert traffic flow to some other routes but badly failed to control the situation.
All Pakistan Workers Confederation Rawalpindi chapter Secretary General Akram Bunda said Wapda employees and the confederation had launched the campaign against the proposed privatization.
