Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has decided not to go ahead with seat adjustment plan with the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in the upcoming local government (LG) elections in the federal capital.
The decision to this effect was taken after non-withdrawal of candidates by the PML-N leaders at union councils level despite directives from the Islamabad's leadership.
A spokesman for Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Monday said following various meetings between JI leaders Zubair Farooq Khan, Kashif Chaudhry and Sajid Chaudhry and PML-N leaders Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Anjum Aqeel Khan, the two sides reached seat adjustment for slots of chairman and vice chairman in 16 union councils (UCs).
However, he said, the PML-N candidates did not withdraw in favour of JI candidates by the given deadline. "Now we have decided that we will field our candidates with the symbol of 'tarazoo’ (scale) in these UCs also," he said.
