BATKHELA: The district administration of Malakand Agency on Tuesday lodged a first information report (FIR) against the tehsil nazim, Batkhela, for manhandling a security guard at the assistant commissioner’s office.
The sources said that Tehsil Nazim Maulana Naeem along with some people went to the office of the Assistant Commissioner Ishfaq Ahmed who was preoccupied.
“A security guard, Falak Said, asked the nazim to wait for some time until the meeting was over but he exchanged harsh words with the guard and tore his uniform,” an official, pleading anonymity, told The News.
He said that the nazim also exchanged harsh words with the Assistant Commissioner Ishfaq Ahmed as he came out of his chamber after hearing the uproar on the premises of his office. “I would prefer to resign if the nazim was not booked as he humiliated me,” the official quoted the security guard as saying.
When contacted, Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed said that the tehsil nazim had not only brawled with the security guard, Falak Said, but also insulted him. He said that the poor guard submitted an application with the deputy commissioner, stating that he would resign if the case was not lodged against the tehsil nazim.
Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference at the Batkhela Press Club, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) district president Maulana Kifayatullah said that the provincial government should keep a check on the officials of the district administration. He said that the local administration should apologise to the nazim for insulting him at the office.
