Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed Cabinet Committee on Law and Order to ensure implementation of the comprehensive security plan evolved for Muharram in letter and spirit and the ban on display of weapons should be strictly implemented.
He said the situation demanded extraordinary measures and there was a need to foil the nefarious designs of anti-nation elements with the force of unity. He directed that Cabinet Committee on Law and Order should review implementation of the security plan for Muharram on regular basis.
He said that implementation of special security measures for Majalis and procession routes should be ensured at any cost and all possible steps should be taken for the protection of life and property of citizens. He said that indiscriminate action should be continued against the elements promoting religious hatred through loudspeakers. He directed security agencies to remain fully alert and keep a watchful eye on miscreants. He said that no effort should be spared for maintaining an atmosphere of peace, religious brotherhood and tolerance during Muharram and all the institutions concerned should perform their duties in an efficient manner.
Chinese team: A delegation of a Chinese company called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Friday and expressed interest in investment in energy, infrastructure and potable water projects.
Shahbaz Sharif welcomed investment by the Chinese company in infrastructure and drinking water projects and said that the Punjab government was implementing the policy of balanced development of urban and rural areas. He said that projects worth billions of rupees had been started for the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads and supply of potable water in rural areas. He said Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme was a milestone in the development of rural economy.
