LAHORE
A BSc student was shot dead by some unidentified persons in the Nawab Town police station area on Tuesday.
It was reported that the victim identified as Aziz Khan, son of Majid Khan, and his friend Imran, were on their way back to hostel on a bike when some unidentified armed persons intercepted them near Ali Park and shot at and wounded them.
The unidentified assailants fled the scene. The injured friends were rushed to a local hospital where Aziz Khan died. Imran’s condition was said to be out of danger.
Police shifted the body to morgue and informed the victim’s family living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Meanwhile, police arrested one Amjad in this regard who denied murder charges.
ACCIDENTS: Total 644 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which six lives were lost and 517 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district.
However, some 237 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
NOTICES: CTO Lahore Tuesday issued show cause notices to 17 wardens on the charges of negligence and dereliction of duty.
He also visited Mughalpura, Shadman, Ichhara, Nawan Kot, Samanabad and traffic help line office and issued show cause notices to 17 traffic wardens, including AMTO, lifter in-charge and a driver on the charges of negligence and dereliction of duty.
arrested: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Lahore Region, on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a Deputy Director Press Laws of DGPR red-handedly while taking bribe for issuing NoC for a Monthly.
According to the Anti-Corruption Establishment officials, the raiding team arrested Rauf Ahmed, Deputy Director Press Laws of DGPR red-handedly when he was taking Rs10,000 from a complainant Azam Naveed. The accused had already paid Rs20,000 priorly for issuing NoC for the Monthly.
