LAHORE
A lawyer on Friday locked courtroom of a civil judge at Model Town courts as the judge refused to announce the decision of a case in lawyer’s favour.
Advocate Nadeem Zia Butt appeared before the court of Civil Judge Iftikhar Hussain of Model Town courts and asked him to announce decision of his choice in a case pending before the court pleaded by the said advocate. However, the judge refused to do so which annoyed the lawyer and he locked the courtroom and detained the judge.
As the matter came into the knowledge of the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, he took notice and reached there on the spot along with the Registrar Tariq Iftikhar.
The lock of the courtroom was broken in the presence of the Chief Justice who later constituted a committee comprising senior lawyers and a judge of the LHC to probe the incident. The Chief Justice said strict action would be taken against those who found guilty.
