Corona Task Force stresses precautions: Concern over sudden hike in corona cases

LAHORE: A member of corona taskforce formed by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar, has said that in view of the recent corona epidemic, the sudden increase in the number of patients is a matter of great concern and there is a need to ensure that all precautionary measures are properly taken care of while heeding the concerns raised by senior medical experts.

In a statement here on Thursday, Prof Al-freed Zafar, who is also principal of Postgraduate Medical Institute/Lahore General Hospital, said police and other law enforcement agencies should discourage the citizens from coming out of homes without wearing masks and stop them from leave their homes unnecessarily.

Prof Al-freed said that the federal and provincial governments have taken all possible steps to prevent corona on their own. “Separate and special measures have been ensured for corona patients in hospitals but in view of the severity of the epidemic we all will have to take it seriously, especially with warnings of a possible increase in it in May.”

Prof Alfreed Zafar pointed out those selling face masks in the streets without protecting them from dust are spreading the germs themselves. He added the task force of the Ministry of Science and Technology for corona is monitoring the situation. The government agencies are creating awareness among the citizens about prevention measures. He hoped that, if the citizens cooperated and security measures were ensured,it would be easier to deal with the coronavirus epidemic.
