SP to probe connivance of police with gamblers

Rawalpindi: CPO (Rawal-pindi) DIG Muhammad Ahsan Younis has assigned an Superintendent of Police (CIA) to probe connivance of police officials with the organisers of horse racing.

A special team on the instructions of Rawalpindi had raided at venue of horse racing, in which 151 people were arrested including in-charge of police Chowki (Raniyal) Sub Inspector Imtiaz Hussain and Moharar Raniyal Chowki Arshad Hussein.

Earlier, CPO Rawalpindi had suspended the entire staff of Raniyal police Chowki and SHO (Sadar Beiruni) police station for involvement with gamblers.

Meanwhile, show cause notices has also been served to police officials deputed in Sadar Beiruni police station including SI Zahid Khan, SI Tahir Mehmood, ASI Nawazish, ASI Aftab Jafari in Police Chowki Raniyal, while police officers in Sadar Beiruni including SI Arshad Ali, SI Mudasar Ilyas, SI Muhammad Yusuf, SI Nadeem Altaf, SI Shafqat, ASI Bilal, ASI Adnan and ASI Qaiser Riaz for negligence on the part of their dutie despite presence in police stations.

CPO Rawalpindi DIG Muhammad Ahsan Younis stated that law treats equally all the people adding that Rawalpindi Police will not tolerate corrupt elements in the force. Police officials having connivance with criminal elements will not be tolerated.

He said that strict departmental action will be taken against corrupt police officials for supporting gamblers adding that Rawalpindi Police moving towards strict accountability.
