ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has constituted six benches at its Principal Seat Islamabad and one each at its Branch Registries at Lahore and Karachi, which will be hearing cases next week commencing from April 13.
Earlier on March 21 the court, while taking preventing measures for minimising the spread of coronavirus, had announced that only essential cases would be heard at Principal Seat Islamabad by three benches.
It had also announced that only cases of urgent nature will be heard at Karachi and Lahore Branch Registries after delisting all other cases.
According to the court roster issued on Thursday, the court has constituted six benches at its Principal Seat Islamabad with one each at its Branch Registry at Lahore and Karachi for the next week, commencing from April 13, 2020.
As per the court roster, Bench No 1 is comprising of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan while Bench No 2 comprised of Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Yahya Afridi, Bench No 3 comprising of Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed while Bench No 4 comprises of Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood.
Similarly, Bench No 5 comprised of Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel and Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan while Bench No 6 comprised of Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Sayyed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi.
Likewise, at Lahore Registry, Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah will hear cases while at Karachi Registry a three-member bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqir and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Munib Akhtar will be hearing cases from April 13 to April 17, 2020 respectively.
