Woman ‘killed by father-in-law over domestic chores’
A woman lost her life after she was allegedly beaten up by her father-in-law for refusing to do domestic chores in the Orangi Town neighbourhood on Thursday.
The tragic incident took place at a house located near the Ghausia Chowk in Orangi Town. According to the Pakistan Bazaar police, rescuers and a police team went to the home and moved the victim to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medical treatment where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
She was identified as 27-year-old Fatima, wife of Mubarak. The police while quoting a preliminary investigation said the victim’s father-in-law, Fazal Kareem, punched and kicked her several times after she refused to do the domestic work. The police said the suspect was on the run. The police have registered a case against the suspect on behalf of the victim’s father, Shamim, and initiated investigations.
Body found
Police on Thursday found the body of a man at a house located in the Shahnawaz Nusrat Bhutto Colony. According to the Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station, rescuers and a police team moved the body to the ASH for an autopsy.
The deceased was identified as 50-year-old Amir. The police said the deceased apparently died from an overdose of drugs. The police, however, said they were waiting for the post-mortem report which would ascertain the actual cause of death.
Man found dead
A young man was found dead in the Sector 5D of the Surjani Town police. According to the Surjani Town police, the body was taken to the ASH for an autopsy. The police suspected that the man died from an overdose of drugs. The body had been moved to the hospital’s morgue and the man’s identity was yet to be ascertained, the police said.
